Old bookseller mark in pen to inside of back free end paper. Small dent to the front of the text block. Some of the gilt decoration has worn off, and the edges are lightly wornLight foxing and tanning throughout. French text. A philosophy of happiness. According to Wikipedia, “In 1746 [the author] became Lieutenant of the inhabitants of the city of Reims: in this capacity…he laid out the city’s streets…and founded a school of mathematics and a school of drawing. At the same time he worked on writing his Theory of Agreeable Sentiments…the last version, published in 1749, was dedicated to King Louis XV.
