Covers are soiled, pages are heavily aged toned, and some pages are lightly foxed. Spine has been repaired, there is a previous owner’s label to pastedown, there is a smudge to front free endpaper, and a small armorial bookplate to verso of title page. Pages are sound and binding remains tight. French text. This copy of the famous fanciful dialogues between historical figures was used by Fontenelle to promote his enlightenment philosophy. First published in 1683, it has been re-issued in many editions.
