Very good, moderate wear to covers, light toning to pages, old pencil notes to ffep. Some first editions including first American appearances of Sand’s “The Private Secretary” and Dickens’ “American Notes for General Circulation”. Old half brown leather over marbled boards, raised bands. 4to., 28.5×20 cm. Printed in small type and double columns on newsprint, these cheap editions were sold for 12-1/2 cents. Being quite fragile, they have become scarce. The first American editions of “American Notes” and “The Private Secretary” are rare. Heavy book, will require extra shipping. weight: 4.0 lb.
