Bookstore Staff
We hope that you'll come into the bookstore and meet us in person! Whether you order through our online catalog or walk up to the register with your favorite book, here are the Zephyr Booksters who will be making sure you get more book for your buck:
- Aline Polikalas has been with us since we opened here on South Virginia Street in Reno. She monitors our customer want lists, pulls your book off our shelves when you place an internet order and she makes a killer Caramel Latte at our coffee bar for those of you who can visit us in person.
- Shannon Bow started working for us after we opened in June of 2007 and she makes sure the description you see in our online catalog is accurate and, when we can find the book you're looking for in our computer when you walk in the door, it's because Shannon's been hard at work. She also puts a mylar cover on every dust-jacketed book before it is moved to the shelves for your browsing pleasure.
- Madaline Zanoni, Nancy Turner, Susan Nielson, Josh Loftis and Alex Johnson, our part time employees who help keep the rest of the team rested, organized and ready to assist in connecting you with your perfect book.
- And, of course, we can't forget Lee and Ivye Johnson- owners and full-time volunteers who love reading, love books and love bringing Zephyr Books to you.
Bookstore Trivia: We started our first book store in 1994 and called it Black & White Books and had a black & white cat named Jacob. We sold the store in 2000 to a former employee, who ran it for five years. In the interim we started Zephyr Books online only for rare and collectible (which we kept when we sold the store). We bought Black & White back in 2006 and put it in storage while I finished out the school year and we went on a quest. We had decided to go big and wanted at least 5,000 sq ft. We found this location (5,288 sq ft) and kept our internet name. We opened for our second go round in June of 2007.
